TIL NEXT YEAR

6 x 6 inch oil
on 1/8th inch thick gesso board
$115.00
including shipping

Walking in the woods this time of year is especially exiting. The changing of the seasons brings out the most incredible colours especially the almost neon leaves when against the dark background of foliage that has already fallen.

TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS

48 x 30 inch oil
on 3/4 inch wrapped canvas
$900.00
including shipping

One of my favourite scenes overlooking Saltspring Island from Chemainus.  Vancouver Island is one of the most beautiful spots in Canada, it is a large island with many small islands just a short ferry ride away...a travellers paradise.

FLOATING THROUGH LIFE

12 x 16 inch
oil on 1/8th inch thick board
$260.00
shipping included
I really enjoyed using these soft shades of blues and greens and my very favourite lavender.  The days have been so grey, it is such a treat to work on something so light and summery.

WALKING IN CALM

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch thick gesso board
$95.00

This is one of the areas my husband hikes in...true beauty.  I love doing landscapes because I paint really messy, that is what I see in nature, just every which way with colour, movement and light.

SERENITY NOW

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

This is a borrowed photo from a friend, the setting is right in her back yard, I love how the light gently hits the trees. The more I paint landscapes the more I want to paint landscapes.

PARKSVILLE VIEW

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$85.00

This photo is from a property in Parksville, some of the most beautiful views to be had when the weather is cooperating. I am becoming more and more fond of painting landscapes, starting with such simple shapes and just laying down the colours to create from the photo what you envision the completed painting will be.

DESTINATION NANOOSE

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

Being that is is New years day I wanted to paint something special.  I took this photo at Nanoose Edibles where I buy my vegetables every chance I get, everything is organic and the farm is so very beautiful.  We are so fortunate that we have this special spot on Vancouver Island.  This painting I would have to say is expressionist, impressionist with a little bit of abstract(I can't decide). I really enjoyed just painting the rows of colour and then adding detail.

LAZY DAYS

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD
I just kept adding bits of colour and a landscape eventually appeared, I tried to keep my strokes really loose. I am pleased with the end result.

TALL TALES

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$75.00

Landscapes are fairly new to me and as it turns out I absolutely love doing them.  I find I paint more loosely for some reason, and choosing the palette is very exciting.

B.C. MOMENT

6 X 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

Today was just one of those days, absolutely perfect weather, crisp and bright...my inspiration for this painting.  I don't do many landscapes but I am always pleased when I decide to tackle one.  The tricky part for me is not going to crazy with my detail and paint strokes...I have to keep saying to myself "slow down" stay in the moment.

OVERLOOKING SALTSPRING

10 x 10 inch
oil on 3/4 inch wrapped canvas
SOLD
Yesterday I took the day off from painting and watched a video of Daniel J Keys, one of my very favourite artists. I tried incorporating some tips I have learned, I have watched the video several times and always pick up something new.  I took this photo a few months ago, it was quite a grey day but still so beautiful, I took the liberty of adding  more colour than was actually present.  I really enjoyed working on a large(for me) canvas as my usual size is 6 x 6 inch.
