Victoria is one of my favourite cities, especially because there are still so many character homes.  Whenever I get the chance I drive the 2 hours to my favourite neighbourhood Fairfield and take as many photos as I can. There was so much detail in the photo that I just started with the larger blocks of colour and then added little bits of detail. So much fun to do.

This is the perfect little house, it is always a challenge for me painting light and shadow but I really enjoy doing it.  When I am looking for houses to paint I am always amazed at how back in the day all of our oversized families fit very comfortably into these tiny little gems.

I took this photo in Victoria, one of my very favourites cities. I want to paint more houses with serious shadow, I left out quite a bit of the detail at the front of the house just trying to focus on the larger blocks of colour...challenging for me but really enjoyed painting this.

I was just in London and so enjoyed seeing the rows of homes with wonderful different coloured doors.  I tried to keep this painting really simple.

They say that if you paint the same subject over and over you will improve your skills. I decided to paint another one of my Victoria house. Tomorrow I will paint it again, unless of course something else peaks my interest.

I took the photo for this house last year in my favourite city, Victoria. The colour of the house was white but I decided to make it violet.  We are having many days of grey so I wanted to spice things up a little, I also liked how the golds and yellows complemented the violet.
