I took this photo in the spring, I loved how just bits of the daffodils were in sunlight.  The colours are very warm and easy on the eyes.

This is a definite departure from my usual canvas size. I took this photo of a beautiful hanging basket on my deck, the neighbours house was included in the photo, I really liked the composition of the photo so decided to paint it. It is tricky painting on such a large surface but eventually you just let loose. I really enjoyed experimenting with colour and detail on this painting.

The key word here is painting, I just let loose and did exactly that, very little sketching at all.  My brush moved quickly with lots of energy...end result very fluffy kitten.

A gloomy day here so I just had to paint flowers.  I never thought of putting a rhodo in a flower arrangement until I went to London to visit my daughter, we were out for dinner and there was a huge vase full of them...beautiful.

I have had this photo for awhile, I seem to stay away from images that have shadows, not sure how to start the painting.  Well today was the day.  The key for me is to paint what you see not what you think you see.  Spend as much time studying the photo as you do painting.

This photo was taken at Nanoose Edibles, the best place to buy salad greens. My husband took the photo, the chickens were so friendly, they came wandering over to us as we started to approach them.

FERN ROAD

Yesterday I was driving back home and Fern Road just looked so beautiful, the way the sun was shining on the trees and with the beautiful cloud formation I had to stop and take some pictures. I started this painting with a white canvas(no underpainting) and very loosely made a few marks on the canvas to outline where things should go. I just did colour blocking, trying to stay away from much of the detail, I loved painting this way.

I started this painting when I got up but couldn't finish it until the afternoon. It was nice coming back to it after not working on it for a few hours, sometimes just getting away from your work gives you fresh eyes. The background is a little different, I am pleased with how it turned out.

I painted this cow just a couple of weeks ago, I downloaded an app that flips the image so I painted it today using the reverse image. I always find it helpful to paint something more than once.
