I thoroughly enjoyed painting this cow, I had the Title before I finished...for some reason it just stuck in my mind. It is always enjoyable painting a great big nose, I love how it takes up most of the canvas, you have to make sure to give the same amount of painting attention to all the less defined parts of the cow or they will disappear.   I didn't use as many colours as I usually do but I am very pleased with the outcome.

I have painted this cow several times, today I cropped him so I was really focusing just on his face using lots of messy broad strokes.

I am trying to paint more things with light and shadow, I find it hard for some reason.  I can't seem to get it around my head that it is just painting values and not to worry about the subject.  Leaving the detail until the end.

This is another cow that I saw at a farm in my area, she was waiting patiently for something all on her own, while the other cows were together on the other side of the barn.

I was at my studio at the art centre today.  I am really trying to be more loose and not go over and over the same brush stroke(a huge issue with me).  I also threw in some magenta to my palette just for fun.

I decided to use a lemon yellow for the underpainting, I wanted to keep the painting really light.  The nose and mouth are my favourite part of this painting.
