COLOUR EXPLOSION

30 inch by 40 inch
oil on one inch canvas
NFS

I am so enjoying using gesso to cover large paintings that I was never too fond of, even better is re-using them to play with colour on such a large scale, such a departure from what I usually paint. It is always good to try something new...gets those creative juices flowing even more.

Cow 54 I'm serious

6 x 8 inch
oil on board
SOLD

I have painted this cow before,  I took a different approach starting with a thalo blue under painting.  I used alizarin crimson to soften the rust colour.  The more I paint cows the more I want to paint cows.

Cow 49 Pink everywhere

6 x 6 inches
oil on board
$50.00

I seem to be getting a little abstract in my paintings, just suggesting some of the detail.  I am working on not having quite so many paint strokes...we shall see.

Everyone's cat

6 x 8 inches
oil on board
$65.00
This is Pebbles  my girlfriends cat, she thought I would enjoy painting her.  Pebbles has the most beautiful colouring and fantastic green eyes, she is a senior but still looks so youthful.

I just couldn't seem to keep this cow from becoming quite colourful.  I used the colours I had left from my palette yesterday.

Full house

8 x 8
oil on panel
$85.00

This painting seems more abstract than my usual, it is also darker...different but I like how it turned out.

Indifference

6 x 6
oil on panel
$50.00

I am really trying to not start adding any serious detail until the end of the painting, this is a real challenge for me.

Interesting

6 x 6 inch
oil on panel
SOLD
I have definitely been struggling with my painting lately,  it is hit and miss when I am in front of the easel.  I have many beautiful photos of cats which are one of my very favourite things to paint, so this morning I went through them.  I started slow and tried not to panic when I got to where the painting just looks really bad,  I kept going and am quite pleased with the end result.

Going to Saltspring

6 x 8 inch
oil on panel
SOLD

I have had a week of painting and wiping, nothing was going right.  I would have all the best intentions and a plan for what I wanted to paint and then after about an hour or two each day I would wipe everything.
I went through all of my pictures, I needed inspiration.  I had taken this photo when we were going to Saltspring island for the day.  This little sweetie was sitting in the back of the car that was in front of us waiting patiently, I love the red bandana, it was as if her people had dressed her up for the trip.

Cow 39 The Mentor

6 x 8 inch
oil on panel
SOLD

I loved how this little cow was so close.  Again I am surprised by how different every cow looks and how different there personalities seem.
