Another cow painting, I used only a couple of blues, alizarin crimson, a touch of yellow and some black. I bought a new brush which is so fine, I added all the whiskers and squiggle as an after thought, love the new brush, I am going to try not to destroy it as I always do with the delicate brushes.

I wasn't going to paint today, but every time I walked by my easel it seemed to be speaking to me.  I am so happy it did, this cow is one of my favourites(for this week anyway). I love the nose which to me is the absolute focal point.

This is another beauty from just up the street on Parker Road. I drive by several times a week when I am taking the dogs for a run, if the cows are in the field it is time for another photo shoot.  The more I paint cows, the more I love to paint cows.

It is hard to believe that I have painted close to 200 cows.  The best thing about this is that I have learned so much by painting the same subject, even though every cow is different, the little similarities are always there and it just seems to flow when I am painting ...I am already looks forward to the next 200.

This beauty just has the most wonderful gaze. I chose softer colours but then added a little more punch to the background, I pulled out my Ice Blue which just glides over the other colours and gives them the most wonderful soft shadows.
