I started with a black background for this painting, I have decided I am going to to it more often. It just seems to add some more detail, especially towards the end when there are just little bits left visible.

The chickadees are full on at the bird feeder, they are so tiny up against all the other bigger birds but they hold their own.

Today when I started painting this chickadee I heard a thud on my window, a small bird was lying on the ground, I picked him up and put him in the large planter under the Japanese maple. He was there for quite some time just resting, eventually he hopped up onto the ledge of the planter and flew away...it was definitely a bird day.
