Today when I started painting this chickadee I heard a thud on my window, a small bird was lying on the ground, I picked him up and put him in the large planter under the Japanese maple. He was there for quite some time just resting, eventually he hopped up onto the ledge of the planter and flew away...it was definitely a bird day.

This fall we didn't do any yard clean up, we had listened to a program that mentioned by leaving all the fallen leaves you are making a healthier life for the birds, bees and earth. I couldn't believe how much action we had in our yard this fall and winter, there were so many more birds busily working in the garden.

Lately I seem to be using more rich oranges, golds and reds than usual...right now our area is full of the most amazing fall colours.  A friend of mine was mentioning that because of the long very hot summer we had it makes them even more spectacular. I love nature.

I so enjoyed painting these blue poppies, I tried to make them really stand out against all the foliage.  The robin has the perfect vantage point of looking for a snack.
