This fall we didn't do any yard clean up, we had listened to a program that mentioned by leaving all the fallen leaves you are making a healthier life for the birds, bees and earth. I couldn't believe how much action we had in our yard this fall and winter, there were so many more birds busily working in the garden.

This is a more subdued palette than I usually use, I never realized how many subtle colour changes there are in these little robins but am enjoying painting them.

Spring is definitely around the corner, there are robins hanging out in our yard and I even see some buds on the trees...can't wait.  I just had to add  flowers to this robin painting to give it the full spring effect.

It's looking a lot like spring around here, birds everywhere.  I started with a white canvas and once I painted the little robin and then I gave the surrounding background a wash of phthalo blue. I like how everything pops.

 Yes this is a pink robin, and yes they do exist but only in Australia.  The range of colours that you find in the different small bird species is amazing...I am loving painting birds!
