BUG LOVER

6 x 8 inch oil
on 1/8th inch thick gesso board
$95.00

Another sweet robin to paint. I used a limited palette and tried not to get to caught up in the details, sometimes just suggesting something in a painting is all you need.

UNDER COVER

18 X 18 inch oil
on 3/4 inch thick wrapped canvas
$340.00
including shipping

Another painting that I did starting with a black canvas.  I really enjoy seeing the colours come to life as I layer the paint on the canvas.

PERUSING POPPIES

18 x 18 inch
on 3/4 inch thick wrapped canvas
$340.00
includes shipping
I so enjoyed painting these blue poppies, I tried to make them really stand out against all the foliage.  The robin has the perfect vantage point of looking for a snack.

BIRD HEAVEN

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$70.00

This painting turned out much brighter than I had intended.  I think it was because of the beautiful weather outside.

UNASSUMING

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$80.00

There are always a couple of robins standing around just below our plum tree, it seems in the morning they are really busy. I used a very limited palette for this painting trying to just focus on my perception of the true colours of the bird.

BALLET ANYONE

6 X6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

This is a more subdued palette than I usually use, I never realized how many subtle colour changes there are in these little robins but am enjoying painting them.

INDEPENDENT SUE

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

I don't think I could ever grow tired of painting robins.  How do those thin little legs hold up such ample bodies?

SPRING SING

6 X 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$70.00

Spring is definitely around the corner, there are robins hanging out in our yard and I even see some buds on the trees...can't wait.  I just had to add  flowers to this robin painting to give it the full spring effect.

SWEET CHEEKS

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$70.00

It's looking a lot like spring around here, birds everywhere.  I started with a white canvas and once I painted the little robin and then I gave the surrounding background a wash of phthalo blue. I like how everything pops.

PINKY

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

I decided to paint another pink robin, they are just so adorable. Their lower feathers remind me of a little pink tutu.

GINGER SNAP

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

This was my second attempt at this little bird, yesterday after working for quite some time on it never being completely happy, the cloth came out and within a few seconds it was gone. Today I sat with my cup of tea examining the photo, there is much more detail on a little bird than what you first think, tiny little things like the small mark where the beak begins or the small curve at the end of the head where the body begins. These details give so much more character when you are painting.
