PEONY COMMISSION

This is a commission I did for a couple to be reminded every day of the beautiful peonies that grow in their garden every year, the vase was a wedding gift from their grandfather.

SUMMERS DANCE

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

Another day of daisy painting, this one is actually quite abstract.  I started this painting by blocking in transparent very lightly and then just kept adding little bits of colour.

EASY LIVING

10 x 10 inch
oil on 1/8th inch canvas hard board
SOLD

These are flowers from my garden and of course my trusty turquoise vase. I started with a dioxazine purple under painting and then layered colour trying to leave some of the purple exposed, I finished the painting and decided to take my dogs for a walk.  When I got back home and looked at the painting again I decided to add just a couple of hints of cadmium red, it just gave the painting a little more punch.

CHOICES

6 x 6 inches
oil on gessobord
$50.00

I am becoming hooked on painting still life.  I love that you can pick a favourite object and use it as a subject, I am a fan of bright coloured pottery and glass ware so I have a great assortment to choose from.

TOMATO BEAUTIES

6 x 6 inch
oil on gessobord
SOLD

We were at the farmers market and there was a booth with the most amazing tomatoes...the colours were spectacular. At that moment I decided I would paint a fruit/vegetable still life which I have never done before. It took me much longer than usual to paint but I love the outcome.  I probably spent as much time studying the tomatoes as I did painting them.
