I took the photo for this painting at St. Annes academy in Victoria, I love walking there when I visit.  This painting is a little bit of a departure for me, I want to work more with light and shadow.

I am really enjoying painting flowers lately, this one seems a little abstract, layering more colour and adding tiny hints of something extra just seem to give a little more zing.

It was an absolutely beautiful spring day yesterday so I had the urge to paint flowers, of course I chose tulips...my very favourite.  I love the simplicity of this painting.
