I pulled out all the pinks for this painting, of course I got the flowers from our Saturday market at the Vertgen farm stall.  Every week my heart starts beating a little faster as I walk to their stall, ahhh the simple things in life.

Cow 120 CHERRY BLOSSOM

6 x 8 inch

oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD
Todays cow I have painted before, I cropped the image differently so more of the body was showing. I chose a pink background because right now all of the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom...the most wonderful pink everywhere...pink was on my mind.

Under the plum tree

6 x 6 inch
oil on board
$50.00

This chair is usually in my living room, I decided to place it under the plum tree in my back yard for some different lighting. I like the idea of a velvet chair sitting on the lawn.

Pink tulips

10 x 10 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

This is another painting of my Turquoise vase that my friend Jeannie gave me.  I decided to use a larger panel today.  I am always surprised at how much more freedom I have especially with my initial composition.  Everything seems much more loose.

I'll be up front with you

10 x 10 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I have been on a flower kick lately, I think it is because I can see the colour of spring.  We were in Victoria on Tuesday and the cherry blossoms art out...so beautiful.  With this painting I took a little bit of a departure from my usual style...kind of abstract in areas.

Turquoise vase

6 x 8
oil on board
SOLD

For my birthday my girlfriend got me a beautiful clear glass turquoise vase,  she also tried to get some pink tulips but it was just a little to early in the year.  I spotted my first pink tulips last week and bought them, headed right home and put them in my new vase which I then painted.

Triple beauty

6 x 8
oil on board
$50.00
I am definitely on a role with flowers.  I can't seem to get enough of painting them.  Because I paint so loosely and quickly(alla prima), they are the perfect study.  I have been playing around with colour and think I have turned a little corner,  usually I go to colours that are my old faithfuls, but I have been stepping just a little outside the box and am really enjoying myself.   Nothing ventured nothing gained shall be my mantra for the next little while.

Free to be me

6 x 8
oil on board
$50.00

I am really enjoying painting flowers lately, this one seems a little abstract, layering more colour and adding tiny hints of something extra just seem to give a little more zing.

Looking through the window

6 x 8
oil on board
$65.00

Today was overcast and very muggy.  I took the dogs for a long walk and then headed home to paint a picture I had already chosen of a beautiful cat from our local shelter.  Well that didn't happen, I just had to paint more tulips.

Pleasant thoughts

6 x 6
oil on board
SOLD

After the last month painting animals it was time to switch it up a little.  Of course it would be a tulip image that would jump out at me.  I tried to keep the flowers very loose.  I am pleased with the outcome.
