FREEDOM

8 X 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$100.00

Sunflowers have to be one of the most lively plants, the flowers and leaves go every which way, and in the wind the dance back and forth is delightful.  You might even wonder if they are going to topple over but they never do....freedom.

DAYDREAMING OF SUMMER

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

There are a few reminders of warm weather ahead starting to pop up, the sky is blue and the clouds are extra fluffy. I just had to paint flowers. These beauties are from Nanoose Edibles a wonderful farm where I go to get my produce.  When summer comes there is a huge row of sunflowers running all along one side of the property...magnificent.

I used dioxazine purple for the under painting, I love how the greens and yellows compliment with the purple.   I took the photo of these sunflowers at Nanoose edibles(for anyone wanting amazing salad greens, they have the best on Vancouver Island and such a beautiful destination.

LIKE MINDED

SOLD
oil on 1/8th inch canvas board
$75.00

I am enjoying using just  three primary colours for my painting. The black gesso panel is definitely a great starting point, I find that I can see the colours much more clearly...and I really enjoy painting sunflowers.

SUMMER IN NANOOSE

8 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch canvas board
SOLD

My husband took this photo at Nanoose edibles where we get much of our produce.  They plant a huge row of sunflowers every year and they are spectacular.  I used a black panel to start and ultra marine blue, cad med light, cad yellow pale and titanium white.  Again, it is a really good exercise to use a limited palette, keeps you focused on the colour you are using.
