Cow 103 CRITICAL THINKER

size 6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gessobord
SOLD

I painted this cow once and then wiped it out, I was trying not to use as many brush strokes and introduce a palette knife...yikes, things did not go my way.  This is the second attempt minus the palette knife.

FLORA GONE WILD

30 inch x 30 inch
oil on 1/2inch canvas

NFS

Second day of Eumni's workshop, I had chosen a smaller canvas yesterday but Eumni suggested using a larger one for the floral painting, after watching her the day before just go at the demo painting fearlessly I decided to follow her wild abandonment. I even used a palette knife for a good portion of the painting, I had never used one before. I learned so much, just letting go and not judging your work to harshly.  The importance of complimentary colours that can either make or break a painting.  Knowing when to stop....very difficult premise for me.  All in all it was such a great experience.

DANCING COLOUR

8 x 10 inch
oil on 1/2 inch canvas
NFS

Today and tomorrow I am doing a workshop with Eumni Conacher, it is so interesting, and outside the box for me...anything goes.
After a morning of lecture, painting, demo and much lively conversation it was time to start a floral painting which is what Eumni is known for and what we had all been waiting for.  O.K. she said, you have 30 minutes to do your painting... what, at first I panicked, but it is so freeing to only have a set time, you don't have any time to think, you just have to go with your gut and put that paint on the canvas. This is the painting.

Cow 102 DREAMING IN PURPLE

6 X 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gessobord
$65.00

When I started this cow I wasn't planning to use quite so much purple, sometimes you just go where your brush takes you.  I like the whimsy of this painting.

Cow 101 MISS MANNERS

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gessobord
$75.00

Yesterday I was invited to do a painting demo for the De Cosmos art society, it is located in Oceanside on Vancouver Island and encourages artistic growth for its members. What a great experience it was, there was a full room of art enthusiasts who had many questions and comments. For me it was a little intimidating at first since I have never painted in front of a crowd, but the energy is so positive in such a like minded crowd it was a real treat.
This cow is from my demo.

NOBLE HEART

6 x 8 inches
oil on 1/8th inch gessobord
SOLD

This painting has a mauve under painting, more tricky than using burnt umber.  The colours look completely different, but it is a good challenge.

FLUFFY a.k.a. THE NIBBLER

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gessobord
SOLD

I tried to keep the strokes simple and few.  I tend to always go back to my painting and add a little something when I should just quit.

Cow 100 LIVIN THE LIFE

6 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gessobord

I used indian yellow for the underpainting and kept things ever so loose.  I like how this painting turned out, I really tried not to over do anything which is definitely one of my challenges.
