I tried to really focus on keeping this painting soft. Because I enjoy painting bold colours so much this was a challenge but I am really happy with the outcome. Sometimes less is more.

This is another overpainted canvas, there is so much more depth when you are working on something that from the start already has so much going on.  It is a little more difficult when you first start mapping out your painting but then things just start coming together.

I have been noticing the sky and the amazing cloud formations lately. So today was cloud painting day. I started with a pink underpainting. Another favourite colour lately is radian violet, it adds a little more interest to the sky.

There is something so expressive about daffodils, they just seem to say here I am in all my glorious yellow.  Some people aren't especially moved by floral paintings, for me it is the complete opposite.  Every spring when the gardens start filling up I am overwhelmed by the beauty that I get never ending inspiration from.

When a customer sends me the perfect photo of their favourite pooch to be painted I can't wait to get started. I actually painted the same dog twice using the exact same pose(customers orders). When I finished the first I never looked at it until I finished the second. I used a different palette for each so they didn't look exactly alike.
