I decided to use blue and purple as the shadow colour for the cow.  I just kept adding little bits of bright colour to make the painting more lively, so much variation you can use for a black and white cow.

I have had a week of painting and wiping, nothing was going right.  I would have all the best intentions and a plan for what I wanted to paint and then after about an hour or two each day I would wipe everything.

I went through all of my pictures, I needed inspiration.  I had taken this photo when we were going to Saltspring island for the day.  This little sweetie was sitting in the back of the car that was in front of us waiting patiently, I love the red bandana, it was as if her people had dressed her up for the trip.

This is Olive, the perfect name.  This is a commission for a woman who I met last summer.  When she sent me the photos of Olive I was so excited to paint her.  Olive has so much personality in her looks.

Joy Joy is a very special girl, 10 years ago my friend Barb who runs the cat rescue noticed her at a shelter, she was just a tiny kitten then who had many health problems including trouble breathing, of course Barb fell in love with her and she has lived at  Barbs pet store ever since.  Joy Joy is also the face of the  cat rescue  so she is a celebrity in her own right.

Gracie is our girl,  she has absolutely the most perfect personality.  She is so gentle and her eyes could melt anyones heart.  I enjoy painting her but always find it a challenge because of her dark colouring.  I find it difficult to take a picture that gives me the amount of detail and shading I would like.  This painting I am very happy with as it has captured her lovely personality.
