HAPPY HAPPY SPRING

12 X 12 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
175.00

Another painting that I did about 4 years ago, I liked the colours but not the composition so I sketched over with the daffodils and made a new paining.  I love all the extra interest because of the original painting peeking though in spots. This is definitely a great way to recycle your canvas.

LATE OCTOBER

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch canvas panel
SOLD

I borrowed this image from my good friend Corinne, hard to believe that this is a late October vision. I started the painting with a dark blue under colour, the greens just popped as did the single flower, I am always a little surprised at what you can pack onto a 6 x 6 inch canvas.

PRETTY PETALS

6 x 6 inch
oil on gessobord
SOLD

It is a beautiful sunny day here so I was in the mood to paint something cheerful.  I have had this photo for months, I rarely paint a single flower but am really pleased how this one turned out.  Sometimes it gives more impact to just have one subject on a small panel.

Rhodo bliss

6 x 8 inch
oil on panel
$65.00

Today was spent at my studio in town,  this the scene right outside of my window.  The rhodo's were so perfect that I ran out snapped a few pictures and headed back in to start painting.

Full house

8 x 8
oil on panel
$85.00

This painting seems more abstract than my usual, it is also darker...different but I like how it turned out.

Daffodils

6 x 6 inch
oil on panel
SOLD

I was driving by a neighbours a couple of days ago and spotted some beautiful daffodils, I jumped out of the car snapped a few pictures.  Today it is grey and raining so I decided it was the perfect time to paint them.

I snapped the picture of these daffodils at the art gallery where I paint.  I loved the look of them against the window.

Delicious

8 x 8
oil on panel
SOLD
I am enjoying starting from a black panel.  In some ways you have to work backwards when choosing your colours.

Pink tulips

10 x 10 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

This is another painting of my Turquoise vase that my friend Jeannie gave me.  I decided to use a larger panel today.  I am always surprised at how much more freedom I have especially with my initial composition.  Everything seems much more loose.

Lively

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I think I used the least amount of white that I ever have in a painting.  I just kept adding little bits of colour to compliment the existing.  The secret is to know when to stop.

Leigh's roses

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
$50.00

I have a fear of painting glass...I actually start sweating when I attempt it.  My friend Leigh gave me these beautiful roses awhile ago, I snapped some photos but until now I haven't had the nerve to try painting them.  I actually really enjoyed painting the vase.  My mantra for the day...nothing ventured nothing gained.

I'll be up front with you

10 x 10 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I have been on a flower kick lately, I think it is because I can see the colour of spring.  We were in Victoria on Tuesday and the cherry blossoms art out...so beautiful.  With this painting I took a little bit of a departure from my usual style...kind of abstract in areas.

Cone flower delight

6 x 6
oil on panel
$50.00

I stayed away from using too much white preferring the more saturated colours.  I added lines and small bits of extra colour to give the painting more interest.

Pink day

6 x 8
oil on board
SOLD

This painting came together quickly,  I think that when there is just so much colour I work much faster, looking forward to each brush stroke...love pink and green together.  It seems part abstract part impressionist.
