Through the trees

size 10 x 10 inch
oil on panel
SOLD

I took the photo for this painting at St. Annes academy in Victoria, I love walking there when I visit.  This painting is a little bit of a departure for me, I want to work more with light and shadow.

A wonderful day

I did a lot of mixing with this painting and overlapping colours, it feels kind of abstract to me.

Cow 62 Big baby

size 8 x 6
oil on board
$65.00

I have tried several times to paint this cow with no luck...I tried once more.  I started just adding the darks very loosely and then just kept adding little bits until I was happy with it.

Cow 61 Nose first

6 x 6 inch

SOLD

Right when I finished this cow painting my friend Agnes came into the studio and said "nose first"  perfect name.

Cow 60 Hoity Toity

I loved the pose of this cow, I decided to make the  nose extra pink, it just seemed to fit.

Cow 59 Is she looking at us?

6 x 6 inch
oil on panel
SOLD

I have been meaning to paint these cows for awhile...what are they looking at, who knows.  I love both of their expressive faces.  I used a very limited palette which is sometimes the best thing to do for painting, no fussing around with too many colour choices.

We were in Victoria on a beautiful fall day at least two years ago, my husband and daughter were sitting outside of one of our favourite restaurants so I snapped this photo.  I have never painted a person portrait before, I absolutely loved it.  I will definitely do more.
