I WISH IT COULD LAST FOREVER

30 x 30 inch oil
on 1 inch thick wrapped canvas
$600.00
including shipping

First peony sighting and out come the big brushes, the big brush strokes and the big bursts of energy.  I couldn't walk by this canvas without picking up my brush and adding another blast of colour.  Time disappears when creativity takes over.

NATURES DANCE

18 x 18 inch
oil on 3/4 inch thick wrapped canvas
SOLD
shipping included
This is my vision of what summer looks like turning to fall.  I used transparent paints to start blocking in all of the lights and darks. I find this gives me a really solid start.

PRANCING FANCY

18 x 18 inch
on wrapped canvas with 3/4 inch depth
$340.00

Another day to paint a floral and bird painting, I underpinned the canvas black and all of the colours just seem to pop. I am loving painting on the larger canvas.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$80.00

More roses from Jewels garden, she just moved into her new house and was so thrilled to see all the roses. I had to make my way through a  prickly garden to get the coral rose...it was so worth  it.

Workshop with Eumni Conacher

The last two days have been spent in a work shop with Eumni Conacher.  Since I always paint small this workshop was focused on large work.  It is always great to work outside your box, so going from a 6 x 6 inch painting to a 3ft by 3ft painting was a little daunting.  It was a wonderful excersise in just letting go.

DAFFODIL PIZZAZZ

oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
SOLD

This is leaning towards abstract, I mostly concentrated on adding solid groups of colour and keeping it lively and bright.

SUMMER STARS

8 X 10 inch
oil on 1/8th inch hard board
$125.00

I am having the urge to paint flowers more than usual, outside my window is a white wonderland which we hardly ever experience here.  Though very beautiful our little town is just not used to this relentless snow so it is flower painting time....bring on summer.

CAREFREE

I am working on using different palettes for my floral paintings, lots of red and gold...so warm, again I used the palette knife along with a brush.

FLOWER FROLIC

16 x 20 inch
oil on 1 1/5 inch wrapped canvas
$250.00

Today is definitely fall, blue sky, crisp air and leaves  turning those wonderful colours.  I wonder why I just wanted to paint summer flowers. The flowers were pink in the reference photo I used, I don't use a lot of purple but today I made a conscious decision to make it the main colour of the flowers. I absolutely love purple and green together.

GERALD'S FLOWERS

8 x 8 inch
oil on 1/8th inch premium canvas panel
SOLD

I took several pictures of my friends garden, there were so many different greens and the pink flowers just stood out so beautifully. I started with a dark under painting using many layers to make the colours pop.

SMALL TOWN FLOWERS

size 16 x 20 inch
oil on 1/2 inch stretched canvas
$275.00

I took this photo in the spring just up the hill from where I live right when the early flowers were at their best. I started with a white canvas and sketched very loosely the composition. I blocked out all of the dark areas first and then just kept adding colour.

ANOTHER SPRING

6 x 6 inch
oil on 1/8th inch gesso board
$60.00

It is definitely a day to paint flowers...rainy and cloudy. This magnolia was one of three in a row at a house we used to own, they were so very beautiful. One of my favourite things about spring is watching the foliage wake up and come to life again.

PRETTY PETALS

6 x 6 inch
oil on gessobord
SOLD

It is a beautiful sunny day here so I was in the mood to paint something cheerful.  I have had this photo for months, I rarely paint a single flower but am really pleased how this one turned out.  Sometimes it gives more impact to just have one subject on a small panel.
