Wisdom

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
$50.00

I was in Vancouver last Sept with my girlfriend and we went to a knitting store in gas town, there in the window were two very old cats.  We found out from their owner that they were sisters who were 18 years old.  I just love the way this sister was looking up at me.

Leigh's roses

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
$50.00

I have a fear of painting glass...I actually start sweating when I attempt it.  My friend Leigh gave me these beautiful roses awhile ago, I snapped some photos but until now I haven't had the nerve to try painting them.  I actually really enjoyed painting the vase.  My mantra for the day...nothing ventured nothing gained.

Yellow house

6 x 8 inches
oil on panel
$65.00
I have painted this scene before and will probably paint it again, it is taken from outside my studio at the Old school house art gallery in Qualicum Beach, I love character buildings. This building was saved by the towns people 25years ago from demolition.  It is the center of everything in our small village.

I believe in love

6 x 8 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I met this little doll while I was out for a walk with my dogs, I had to take a few pictures.
She turned out quite blue, more than I had originally wanted but I like the look of the painting...I always try to remember there are no rules with creativity.

Cow 34 Sweet baby

6 x 8 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I have painted this cow before, for this painting I cropped the photo so I just painted the head.  I am pleased with the light and I really like the nose.

My niece Robyn has two cats, I asked her to send me some photos, they are both lovely.  Here is the first painting.

Viola

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

This was the second attempt at this painting, originally the pansies were smaller, it just didn't look right to me.  I enlarged the image and it gave the pansies more of an impact.

Big eyes

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

The photo for this kitten was quite dark, I used the enhance on my iPad and even then painted in more light.  My favourite part is the nose...I always really enjoy painting a kitten.

I'll be up front with you

10 x 10 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I have been on a flower kick lately, I think it is because I can see the colour of spring.  We were in Victoria on Tuesday and the cherry blossoms art out...so beautiful.  With this painting I took a little bit of a departure from my usual style...kind of abstract in areas.

Wild flowers

6 x 6
oil on panel
SOLD

The paint on this painting looks really smooth, you can't see as much brush work as usual, the reason for this is because I am using an Ampersand gessobord for the first time. They are very smooth so working my brush will take a little trial and error.  I really like how this painting turned out though.

Cone flower delight

6 x 6
oil on panel
$50.00

I stayed away from using too much white preferring the more saturated colours.  I added lines and small bits of extra colour to give the painting more interest.

In the pink

6 x 8
oil on board
SOLD

The more I paint...the more I paint.  Having said that, it definitely gets less stressful  the more time I  set aside to create.  I am really enjoying the confidence that comes with doing a painting most days.

Sunflowers

6 x 6
oil on panel
SOLD

This is the first time I have ever painted sunflowers, I absolutely  love how much movement they have.  I decided on a bright blue/turquoise background, the sunflowers could definitely handle the competition.

Pretty bird

6 x 6
oil on board
SOLD

A departure from my usual subjects.  My computer is in front of a big picture window and outside of that window I have hung a block of suet, birds have come from everywhere they sit on the big rhododendron or the maple and mostly wait their turn for just a couple of seconds of feeding.  I headed out with my camera and tried several times to get some good bird photos, well it's not in the cards.  The birds are quicker than the camera, so after trying for a couple of weeks now I decided to go on to morgue file and download a bird photo...much easier.

Pink day

6 x 8
oil on board
SOLD

This painting came together quickly,  I think that when there is just so much colour I work much faster, looking forward to each brush stroke...love pink and green together.  It seems part abstract part impressionist.

Subtle boldness

6 x 6
oil on panel
SOLD

I used only cad red med, ultramarine blue, cad yellow light plus white and raw umber to sketch subject. You can't fill your head with other colour issues when you have so few to work with...it is very liberating.

Together we shine

6 x 8
oil on board
SOLD

I am really enjoying painting on a black panel  At first I had a lot of trouble figuring how to start the paintings, now I look forward to it.

Hint of spring

6 x 6
oil on board

DONATED

So I truly do have an addiction to tulips...buying them and painting them, can't have them in my yard though because they are also a big favourite of the deer.  As I have said many times they are such a simple flower but so perfect and  there is nothing better than a vase full of gently opened tulips and their dancing leaves...perfection.

Turquoise vase

6 x 8
oil on board
SOLD

For my birthday my girlfriend got me a beautiful clear glass turquoise vase,  she also tried to get some pink tulips but it was just a little to early in the year.  I spotted my first pink tulips last week and bought them, headed right home and put them in my new vase which I then painted.

Paradise

6 x 8
oil on board
$50.00

In this painting I added a couple of leaves and stems to give just a little more definition to the greenery.  The pink was an afterthought, I am pleased with how it compliments the green and turquoise.

Cone flower jungle

SOLD
oil on board
$50.00

This is one of many paintings I will be doing starting with a black gesso board.  I really enjoy the depth of this painting and how the colours just jump out against the hints of black.

Triple beauty

6 x 8
oil on board
$50.00
I am definitely on a role with flowers.  I can't seem to get enough of painting them.  Because I paint so loosely and quickly(alla prima), they are the perfect study.  I have been playing around with colour and think I have turned a little corner,  usually I go to colours that are my old faithfuls, but I have been stepping just a little outside the box and am really enjoying myself.   Nothing ventured nothing gained shall be my mantra for the next little while.

Free to be me

6 x 8
oil on board
$50.00

I am really enjoying painting flowers lately, this one seems a little abstract, layering more colour and adding tiny hints of something extra just seem to give a little more zing.
