I was driving by a neighbours a couple of days ago and spotted some beautiful daffodils, I jumped out of the car snapped a few pictures.  Today it is grey and raining so I decided it was the perfect time to paint them.

SOLD

Yesterday we went to Saltspring Island for the day, on our way back my girlfriend Cindy took us on a tour of the town she grew up in, Chemainus.  We were in a new area of homes and there was one vacant lot left.  It was so beautiful with just a few trees and looking over to Saltspring.

I am in the mood to paint cows again.  I am taking a workshop in a couple of weeks which calls for some new paint colours,  cerulean blue, cad red light and cad yellow light, I wanted to play around with them beforehand.  I am loving cerulean blue.

Sun worshipers

I love the wildness about sunflowers.  They are always a joy to paint.  Because my  painting style is loose they are the perfect subject

Sunday afternoon

6 x 6 inch
oil on panel

SOLD

I took this picture  when I was in Victoria,  just over the horizon is the ocean.  There is nothing more beautiful as when the cherry trees are flowering.  I don't really paint street scenes...I am going to change that, I just loved painting it.

I loved the look on this cows face.  I used more paint than usual, I just seemed to keep layering, I tried to keep the painting really loose.

Delicious

I am enjoying starting from a black panel.  In some ways you have to work backwards when choosing your colours.

Cow 36 Misunderstood

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I painted this cow awhile back but there was just something I didn't like about it, I worked on it again today and like the outcome.  I have to try not to rush, that's when things don't turn out so well and you will almost always have to do it over.

Tuesday afternoon

6 x 8 inches

I find the gessobord so much easier to apply paint to, the paint goes on like butter.  I know that I will paint this vase many times..I  love the colour and the shape.

Pink tulips

10 x 10 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

This is another painting of my Turquoise vase that my friend Jeannie gave me.  I decided to use a larger panel today.  I am always surprised at how much more freedom I have especially with my initial composition.  Everything seems much more loose.

Welcome

6 x 6 inches

SOLD

I could get used to painting character homes, there is something about their charm.  This house is in Victoria a block from Cook Street village, we always walk by when we are heading to grab a coffee or walking to the water front.

This was a little garage in Fairfield.  The garage was originally the same colour as the car, I took artistic license and changed it to a bright turquoise.

Little blue house

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

One of my very favourite things to do is drive to Victoria especially when all the cherry trees are coming out.  My husband and I spent a couple of hours walking around Fairfield taking pictures of all of the charming character homes. This little blue house was one of the first pictures I took, originally there was a portion of an orange house beside it, I eventually took it out as it just didn't seem to fit.  I have started using gessobord for several of my paintings, it definitely allows your paint brush to glide more easily.

Lively

6 x 6 inches
oil on panel
SOLD

I think I used the least amount of white that I ever have in a painting.  I just kept adding little bits of colour to compliment the existing.  The secret is to know when to stop.

Comforting

Several people suggested that I paint some horses.  So here is my first attempt, I do love the shape of their head and their beautiful soulful eyes.  I really enjoyed doing this painting.
